Many Ministries – one Destination . . . Hope
Destination Hope is a collaboration composed of four Christ-centered ministries, sharing a common mission. Lost Sheep Ministry identifies women living on the streets who have the desire and motivation to change their lives. Teen Challenge of East Tennessee provides residential drug and alcohol treatment and counseling for those who need it. Then, when ready, women are provided suitable housing through Jesus Centered Ministries, and enrolled in life management and job readiness training, and provided a mentor through A Hand Up for Women. The ultimate mission of Destination Hope is to assist and mentor women until they are spiritually strong, financially capable, living a more self-sufficient life, and ready to give back to others.
Our Greatest Needs
Destination Hope’s greatest need is for more housing options for women. Jesus Centered Ministries currently owns three houses, all of which are occupied by people who are profoundly changing their lives. One unique feature of this housing opportunity is that a portion of the resident’s rent is saved for them, to go toward a down payment on purchasing a home when they are ready. We are always looking for grants and donations with which to purchase more housing in order to serve a greater number of women. If you would like to donate money or have property that you think might serve our needs, please contact Mark Shoemaker of Jesus Centered Ministries at (865) 406-6275.
Another ongoing need is for financial assistance with entry fees for residential treatment and bus fares with which to transport women to and from the treatment facility. For donations to help provide for these needs, contact Barbara Mitchell at Teen Challenge of East Tennessee at (865) 546-8933.
Each ministry will continue to work individually but united together for the cause of Christ. Our heart’s desire is to reach and minister to a minimum of twenty women this year. Please keep us in your prayers, asking the Lord to keep us strong in unity.
A Hand Up for Women provides life management, job readiness, and spiritual development training, as well as long-term Christian mentoring.
Jesus Centered Ministries does missions outreach, both in the inner city of Knoxville and in foreign countries. They also provide a housing rental program that works with low income clients.
Lost Sheep Ministry is a mobile ministry serving two major areas in the inner city of Knoxville. On Wednesday nights, under a bridge, we feed, clothe, and counsel the homeless. On Saturday nights, we feed and provide a safe place for the at-risk youth in the Old City. We also provide funds for 12 to 18 months of drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Teen Challenge of East Tennessee counsels with and places teens and adults in residential rehabilitation programs with a success rate of over 80%. They also have a ladies’ crisis center for women awaiting further services.
