Gifts to the Homeless…
First, I want to thank everyone who helped with our Thanksgiving Feast! It was a blast and you can see pics of our event here.
Well, its finally here! CHRISTMAS! For some of us, this is a wonderful time of year, and for others, it’s just plain tough. In fact, one of the most prophetic occurrences of Christmas deals with being in a tough spot. King Ahaz, king of Judah, was surrounded by the enemy. In his fear, the prophet told him to be couragoues, and that God was with him. In fact, Isaiah even told Ahaz to ask for a sign “as deep as sheol or as high as heaven!” Can you imagine God commanding you to ask for anything you wanted? Wow! Well, Ahaz in his relgious ways told Isaiah he would not “test” God. Then God, in his infinite wisdom, tells Ahaz:
“Listen now, O house of David! Is it too slight a thing for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God as well? Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Him Immanuel.”
It took God to tell us the best thing we can imagine for getting out of a tough spot is God Incarnate! (Listen here for Emmanuel, God with Us)
Many of our homeless live in a tough spot! They need Jesus in his people to love and take care of them. This Christmas, would you consider donating towards our Christmas Under the Bridge gift program? Every year we give the homeless Christmas gifts (blanket, chap stick, lotion, nuts, fruit). For around, $2.00, one of our homeless under the bridge will receive a gift for Christmas!
Let this be a sign to them that God loves them in the middle of their tough spot! Click the donate button below to give a gift to the homeless this year…
